MAC A Novel Romance Collection : “Superwatt” Electric Cool Eyeshadow – Review and Swatches.
The product I am reviewing today is something which is completely new and extraordinary available at MAC. Although these are from regular line but unfortunately we don’t get to see these here in INDIA. However, A Novel Romance Collection launches these Electric cool eye shadows in 7-8 different shades. This was the one I was most excited about. Many of them were out of stock on first day but somehow I managed to grab one in shade “SUPERWATT” 😀

Mac Describes “Superwatt” as Light Shimmering Taupe in metallic frost finish. It is warm toned taupish grey brown shade with metallic frost finish to it. It is medium-dark and gives opaque coverage in one layer if applied with fingers. Yes, I prefer applying it with fingers rather than any brush. I tried applying it with flat shader brush but the intensity of colour comes out sheer. It is mostly opaque if applied with a finger. Electric cool eye shadows feels cool when touched. I mean not super cool feeling but yes it has cooling effect to it. The packaging comes with small black regular size plastic transparent screw cap which is helpful to see the shade easily. The metallic sheen gives a nice pop to my eyes and looks beautiful on my pigmented lid. These types of shades are appropriate to go with any transition shade anytime, day or night. In my EOTD , I have applied this on my lid with finger and blend it with bronzer. Don’t judge me I already mentioned I am not crazy about eye shadows 😛 It gives 9 hours of wear time without primer and with primer even more. I don’t see any fading or creasing so far. Honestly my best purchase so far!
The texture of these eye shadows are soft and has cream to powder formula, It goes on creamy but dries down and sets as powder finish once applied. They feel cushiony and bouncy when touched. Exactly the same texture as “Chanel’s Illusion d’Ombres”- I never research over my eye shadows much. This has been told to me by my little sister who is crazy for eye shadows like I am for lipsticks. #whata #combo 😛
All shades have the same metallic finish to it and pigmentation of each shade varies from each other. Few are sheer and most of them go opaque in single application. However I tried few of them at the store, Pure Flash and Gilded Trill are more sheer but apply evenly whereas the dark colours like Switch To Blue and Highly Charged are opaque but apply unevenly when used with brushes. Therefore, in my opinion these types of cream to powder shadows are mostly meant to be used with fingers.
Another thing to keep on mind, these are quite difficult to use on crease area. Blending only sheers out the product and makes them uneven and patchy.

- Light Shimmering Taupe in metallic frost finish looks beautiful and can be paired with any shade.
- Unique cushiony texture and has soft creamy to powder formula to it.
- Appropriate to use during day and night.
- Once applied it dries down and sets as almost a powder formula.
- Gives an opaque finish when applied with finger and sheers out when used with brush.
- Awesome staying power. Doesn’t crease and is a water resistant formula.
- Doesn’t irritate my skin. It feels buttery soft and creamy and has cooling effect on skin (for a few seconds).
- It is lightweight and non cakey.
What I don’t like about MAC- A Novel Romance Collection -Electric cool Eye shadow- “SUPERWAT:
- Price Omg- 1700 INR. However I think it is worth it (Chanel would cost me even more).
- It transfers, I accidently touched my lids and saw that my finger caught a hint of the shadow.
- Not for crease blending.
I love this stuff, the most attractive and new product ever launched. I don’t have many eye shadows, may be 4-5 shades and therefore I wanted something which is neutral and I got exactly what I needed. I am also planning to use it as a highlighter on my cheekbone and on nose just to see how it performs and look on my skin. 😛 #shall #update
